2019 Overview: Unity in Action
"For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith." (Romans 12:3-6)
Eastland is a growing body of believers, and as we increase in number, we see that we are made up of a variety of people. Each one of us has different backgrounds, different talents and abilities (or gifts from God), and different spiritual levels of maturity. So how can we stay united?
God has given us the pattern for a unity in action; His word. From the Bible, he appeals to us for unity:
- To have a relationship with him by being united with Christ
- By being one with the Spirit and allowing him to guide our lives
- By living in harmony with our neighbors
- And by being one in Christ, his body, and the church.
Some of the themes we will focus on in 2019, through classes and sermons, will be how unity plays a role in our relationship with God, in our faith, in our worship, in our marriage and family relationships, in our evangelistic efforts, in our role as leaders, and in our efforts to work together.
