Our Great Fears God’s Greatest Assurances
What are our greatest fears? Regardless of whatever uncertainties we have in this life, God’s assurances still stand — “The Lord is for me; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Psalm 118.6)
Death
- “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116.15).
- “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to
- God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” ! (1 Corinthians 15.56-57).
Illness
- “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4.16).
- “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12.9).
Money & Finances
- “I have been young, and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread” (Psalm 37.25).
- “But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content” (1 Timothy 6.8).
War & Destruction
- “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10.28).
Crime
- “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12.21).
