Filled Up With God
This may sound a little strange at first, but the apostle Paul said this to the Ephesians. Paul had just explained the revelation of the mystery of the Church in chapter 3:1-13; then he offers an exhortation which we would do well to pay attention to.
Paul speaks in verse 14 through verse 19. "For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man; so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fulness of God”.
Twice in this passage Paul mentions being filled in Christ and God. This means that our lives are to be permeated with the Divine beings. Our focus in life needs to be upon God and Christ and the words of Their Holy Spirit. This is only possible when we understand what God expects of us, and do our best to apply God's standards to our own lives. This is what Matthew 6:33 is about "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things will be added to you”.
We are to learn everything we can about the Christ, and God. We need to study the Bible to learn as much as we can about God, His will, His character, His nature, and His love. We study to learn Christ so that we can imitate Him in our own life. We must learn what He learned and live like He lived. Our life is to be about our Father's business, in the same way that Jesus purposed in His life to do the Father's will.
Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me". Yes, we can be filled with God and Christ.
