“2 Timothy 4”
Categories: Christian Attitudes, Christian Living, NT Chapter Summaries, The BibleIt is generally agreed among Bible students that Second Timothy is the aged apostle’s final letter. He has walked “the last mile of the way,” as the song says. His final thoughts have to do with encouraging Timothy’s faithful proclamation of the gospel.
He also shows his interest in the work of others (Demas, John Mark, Onesiphorus, Aquila and Priscilla) in the greatest cause on the earth, the faith of his Lord and Savior. There are words to uplift Timothy and others and words of warning about dangers that could lie ahead.
Paul’s life before God has been poured out like a drink offering and the pitcher is almost empty. His soul is calm, his heart is steadfast, his eternity is secure. He wants to spend his last words to his young friend encouraging him to remain faithful unto death.
